Exploring the Stories of the Islands and the Freedoms of Third Age

It’s an Ant’s Life!

Really, I’m not a big fan of ants. In fact you could say I hate them. Well, I hate them when they get into my sugar or my microwave, but out in the countryside I suppose I’m all “Live and let live,” because these little fellas just fascinated me, on a wee hike the other day, and my only gripe with them was that they wouldn’t stay still long enough to have their picture taken!!

  1. He’s an impressive fellow, you did well to capture his good looks. I have the same trouble with dragonflies. Have been trying to get a decent close up for years (I think I’ve managed it once)…far too darty 🙂

  2. …and lizards! I was trying to snap lizards later this same day! I ended up trying to video them with my phone, which was also pretty much a fail!

  3. I can admire the industry of ants until they set up a colony in my flower beds! then I totally change my POV and boil the kettle. what is also amazing is their resiliance to this treatment as I discovered today.

    • LOL! So long as they are outdoors I think I can take them. We used to have loads in the garden and greenhouse when we lived in St. Annes-on-Sea, and I suppose that there must have been millions on Marton Moss – you’d think we would have been conditioned to ignore them, wouldn’t you! Absolutely, cannot be doing with them in my kitchen, though!
