I happened to be coming back from the supermarket by car, when I realized that there was the possibility of a good sunset tonight. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 the highest, this would only rate a 5, still it was worth parking up and trotting down to the beach to see what would happen.

The sun played hide and seek with those ominous clouds for a long time, but never changed to that glorious crimson we sometimes see. You could see that in pockets of sky between the layers of cloud there were richer patches of red, but this is as good as it got.

Not half bad, really, is it! This is less than a five minute walk from where I am living. If I hang out of my son’s bedroom window I can see more or less this view most Winter nights.

It pays to keep the little camera always in the handbag, and it was good to reconnect with things natural again. That can be harder than you might think sometimes, though, truly there is no excuse for allowing oneself to be distracted or mired down by the mundane and pathetic antics of man.
