The implications of this new law still have to be examined and digested.  It is heartless and cruel, and stinks of xenaphobia.  But more thoughts on that another time, because it will be a long entry, and today there is no time.

For today the thing which really upsets me about this article is the picture the BBC attach to it.  Cayucos/pateras have been arriving in Spain for years now, but still FAR MORE immigrants step off planes, FAR MORE come from South America than come from Africa, and FAR MORE than that come from the UK.  Of course, the plebs who come from the UK, huddle in their ghettos and criticize everything Spanish spend money, so they are welcome.  Immigrants from Africa, who seek only to earn a little money, give themselves a fair chance at life, who integrate with the communities in which they live, given a chance, and who learn the language, are not welcome………………go figure!  And yet, still, they use these pictures, most of which are out-of-date anyway to reinforce their xenaphobic cause.
